“Jiangsu - Denmark Wastewater Treatment Cooperation Conference” was organized by the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai and Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development of Jiangsu Province, and Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu Province around the topic of wastewater treatment. Chen Haodong addressed the issue of the urban wastewater treatment in the Jiangsu province. He reminded us that the province is on the right track of solving the issue, and has made great progress over the last few years, however there is still much to be done before we can confidently say that the problem has been tackled. He pointed out the urgency of continuously changing development concepts, implementing innovative ideas and successful technology and management case studies from China and abroad to successfully respond to the current urban wastewater challenges. During the 14th FYP period, the departments will focus on improving the quality and efficiency of urban wastewater treatment, and on improving the quality of the urban water environment.

The aim of the conference was to bring attention to urban wastewater issues in the Jiangsu province. At the conference, experts and scholars from Denmark and the Jiangsu province came together to present an exclusive conversation about tackling the wastewater treatment related issues in the province in hope of further strengthening the cooperation between the establishments.

After the conference, Chen Haodong and his team from the Housing & Urban-Rural Development Department of the Jiangsu province visited Aquatech China for some insight on the market trends and demands. Visiting the in-person exhibition was a good way for his team to learn about the latest water related technologies and solutions, which will ultimately help the cooperation between the companies and the government of the Jiangsu province on tackling the urban wastewater issues. Aquatech China is one of the largest international water trade shows in China for the fields of process, drinking and wastewater, and one of the few fully in-person shows in this field taking place after the beginning of the pandemic. The show is held as part of WieTec, an exhibition platform for environmental technologies that includes exhibition halls, networking receptions and technical sessions providing the latest information on clean water, water innovation, environmental  solutions, sponsorship opportunities and exhibits.

The 15th edition of WieTec has already been scheduled to take place on June 8-10, 2022, at our regular venue, the National Exhibition & Convention Center. We look forward to meeting you there!
