In the focus of the upcoming Jiangsu – Denmark Wastewater Treatment Cooperation Conference is one of the most pressing issues of our time: how to overcome the shortage of water resources.
Jiangsu – Denmark Wastewater Treatment Cooperation Conference
It is estimated that by 2030, 3.9 billion people worldwide will face water shortages, and this figure is still growing at a rate of about 1% per year. Moreover, as a result of the unpredictable impact of climate change and sudden extreme hydrological events, water resources, as the foundation of human health, food security, energy production, industrial development, and other fields, are facing challenges from all aspects.
The increasingly scarce water resources and the economic growth of the population have further highlighted the importance of wastewater treatment. Globally, less than half of sewage is collected, and less than one-fifth is treated. Finding a way to efficiently reuse water, and find new solutions for resource recovery through wastewater treatment to alleviate the shortage of water resources is one of the most pressing issues of our time.
This and similar topics will be discussed at the upcoming Jiangsu – Denmark Wastewater Treatment Cooperation Conference. The event is supported by Shanghai CHC Expo and organized by The Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai. Together with experts from Jiangsu Province: Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Jiangsu Province: Department of Ecological Environment, Danish representatives in the sectors of water and wastewater treatment will share their know-how and case studies with local audiences.
